We woke up to a blanket of snow today, and a day off! I braved the icy cold (again) and took a walk around the neighborhood with my bff (aka- my camera). I think doing this project has been real motivation for me, during these cold/snowy days. I wouldn’t normally venture out into it, but this project and this blog help me hold myself accountable. So here’s a few shots to add to my project collection:
If you have any photos from the snow, I’d love to see them! Feel free to share!
I’m always ranting about how much I hate the snow, and anything to do with the cold. All of that still stands… but on the way home from work today, there were huge, fluffy snowflakes falling. I have to admit, I gave in a little. It made me “ooo” and “aahhh” just a bit, and as the snow still falls outside, I’m looking out at it falling in the light of the street lamp.
Listen to me! For a beach loving, sunshine drinking soul, I totally sound like a snow lover! It’s true… snow can be gorgeous. But why does it have to be so damn cold?! As beautiful as it can be… I will still take the beach any day. But you can’t be happy in life hating your surroundings and longing for sunnier days. You have to live in the moment, and make the most of it. So I put on my big girl pants (and hat, gloves, scarf and coat) and I ventured out into the falling snow to play with my camera. This is probably a once-in-a-lifetime event, people… so I hope you enjoy!
Don’t forget… It’s never too late to start your own 365 day photo project! #LMPHOTO365
For today’s photo(s) of the day, I thought it would be fun to show a peek of what I carry around all day. I bought a new purse this weekend and I’m trying to fill it with quality ingredients 😉 Like I always say… it’s the little things in life. Girls are funny like that… purses, hand lotions and planners make us happy. Well, I might be speaking for myself on that one, but I love the girly stuff 🙂
That’s all I have for today! Time to go play catch up and watch tonight’s Bachelor episode! 🙂
This will be the first picture of the day not taken with my Canon. But the point is to take the picture, and sometimes my iPhone is just more handy.
I drink tea every day. It’s so good for you and gives me an excuse to buy cute tea cups 🙂 I added this one to my collection today. It’s the little things in life, people! 😉
That has been my word of the week… or sound of the week, I guess. Remember an earlier post about how useless I am in the winter cold? Yeah… that’s why I’ve been MIA for the past couple days. Sorry about that. The snow came down, and the temps dropped so low, that my brain just shut right down. I think it’s great that some people can find joy in the snow. They look like they’re having a blast making snow angels, and throwing snowballs. Not this girl… I want no part in it. My mind is far away, on a Caribbean coast line, with my toes in the sand. So, needless to say, getting this shot from my back yard was like trekking through icy misery for me…
The next picture (since I missed a couple days, I’m trying to catch up) is how I deal with cold temps on a Friday night…
What about you? How do you feel about snow/polar icy weather? Am I the only one who loathes it? Even if you love it, feel free to share a picture of your darling snow angels. I can enjoy them from my warm, cozy couch. 😉
P.s.~ Check out my most recent FB post… if you like FREE, don’t miss it:
Life can get pretty crazy. It’s easy to drown in the stresses of it, sometimes. I often have to remind myself to take a deep breath, forget about the to-do lists, the worrying, the analyzing… and just smile. When you’re running around, trying to keep up with everything, you can easily miss the small things. Photography is my way of slowing down, looking at the small things around me, capturing them and sharing them with the world. I hope that in sharing them, I can inspire someone else to just slow down, look around them, and learn to appreciate little, every-day things that we overlook too often. I was walking on the beach the other day, and came across this drawing in the sand…
A simple, small thing that most people would just walk past, without a thought. But when you take the time to appreciate it, it can turn your day around. It can be a piece of hope, that there’s someone out there in the world saying, “hey- smile! It will all be ok”
And that’s exactly what I did. I smiled. Because life is too short, and we should soak up every beautiful moment of it… big and small. 😉
Any little things that have made you smile lately? I’d love to see or hear about them! Share them in the comments 🙂
Who doesn’t love a sunset? Gorgeous colors, amazing light… there’s something magical about it. Today’s was absolutely perfect for my photo of the day. Of course, being obsessed with sunsets and my camera, I took a million variations of the same photo… but I’ll save you from my OCD, and only share 3… 😉
